Sumycin Prescribing Information

Sumycin is generically known as tetracycline. It is used for the treatment of all the bacterial infections. It acts by reducing the growth process of infectious bacteria by interrupting the protein production which is needed for the bacterial growth. Reducing the growth of bacteria allows the defense mechanism of the body to destroy them.

Uses of Sumycin

Contraindications of Sumycin

Don’t use Sumycin if:

  • You are hypersensitive to any ingredient present in Sumycin or any other tetracycline antibiotics such as doxycycline.
  • Consuming methoxyflurane.
  • You are planning to be pregnant, or are pregnant, or are breast-feeding.
  • You have a stomach infection, kidney disorders or diarrhea.
  • You have allergic to foods, medicines or other substances.

Some medicines may even interact with sumycin. Let your doctor know if you are using isotretinoin or acitretin, methotrexate, atovaquone, methoxyflurance or any such medicines.

Pregnancy and Sumycin

Sumycin may prove to be harmful for the fetus. If you feel that you are pregnant, and then contact your physician and doctor. Discuss with the doctor about the risks and benefits of the Sumycin use during pregnancy. Some amount of sumycin can also be found in maternal milk. So it is better to avoid breast-feeding during the intake of pregnancy.
